Join us in welcoming the Year of the Horse with a colorful lion dance performance by the Lieu Quan Lion Dance Team!

The lion dances to the sound of firecrackers, drumbeats, and cymbals through Chinatown during New Year festivities. The dance brings good luck and drives evil spirits away as it dances in front of businesses and homes. In return, people offer lettuce and money to the lion in thanks.

To learn more about Lunar New Year customs, visit our newest exhibit, New Years All Year Round, a colorful, interactive exhibit featuring Laotian, Chinese, and Polynesian new year traditions, colors, food, and games. On display now through June 22, 2014 in KidPLACE.
