Carved Wood; Commercial decorative art Small wooden carved figures; man on raft with 5 birds and a pot. Fisherman on long wooden raft with 5 black comerants (birds dive for fish, surface, and give to owner who then places the fish in the kettle at his feet.) Man is holding a stick/staff, is dressed in tunic (below the hips) and baggy pants, hair long and looped into a knot at center of head in back. Bare feet. Birds are painted black with incised feathers and eyes. Poles on raft carved to show where joined. Good detail. Man's features painted. Birds have stick legs which are set into holes on raft base. The feet are painted in black onto the raft. |
