YouthCAN
YouthCAN is a community-based leadership program for Asian Pacific American youth (ages 15-19) that works to connect youth with and take pride in their heritage. Through our High School Exhibits Contest, Summer Cultural Academy, and Ambassador Program, APA youth learn how to use advocacy, arts, and cultural programming to take action on issues that affect the APA community.
HIGH SCHOOL EXHIBITS CONTEST

DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO SAY?

APA youth are dynamic and diverse people who face incredible challenges, pioneer new cultural forms, create innovative art, contribute to their communities, and have succeeded in carving out a distinct voice of their own. The YouthCAN High School Exhibition Contest is an opportunity for high school aged youth to tell us more!

Each fall the Wing Luke Asian Museum accepts exhibition proposals from high school students. Whereas any high school student is eligible to participate, we ask that exhibition proposals speak directly to the experiences of Asian Pacific American (APA) youth. Up to 5 high school students are rewarded for their innovate ideas and win:

  • Cash prize;
  • Paid 8-week YouthCAN Fellowship to further explore their topic;
  • Mentoring opportunities with gallery & museum professionals;
  • A chance for your exhibit proposal to be developed into a real one at the Wing Luke Asian Museum!
