Is belonging something we create?

Back Home: Utopia in Seattle is a vibrant reimagining of ancestral connection and cultural exchange. Curated by Paradice Avenue Souf, a South Seattle collective rooted in Black and Brown solidarity, the exhibit builds on their 2022 debut with the Wing Luke Museum. Through immersive multimedia works by lead artists and emerging voices, Utopia explores the deep ties between Asian and Black communities shaped by the Maritime Silk Road trade. Visitors are invited to rediscover our shared histories and envision what it takes to build a more resilient, equitable, and connected city.

Paradice Worldwide

Paradice Avenue Souf (PAS) / Paradice Worldwide exists to preserve a sense of belonging and community for all within South Seattle and the World. We are a burgeoning youth-centered Black and Brown artist collective, rooted in South Seattle. With lead artists Ari Glass, Harry Clean, and Gavin Amos-Lopez, PAS brings a national model of Black Creative Placemaking work to the local region, joined in Black and Brown solidarity reflective of the unique history of segregated Seattle with African American and Asian Pacific American communities, growing up together and in our case, creating art, holding space, and taking action alongside one another. While transition and change can tear communities apart and isolate neighbors, PAS seeks to acknowledge and welcome people from broad backgrounds and bring lasting empowerment to vulnerable communities.
