DISplace features visual art by regional Native Hawaiian creatives, family stories and ephemera, historic photographs, and archival objects to honor these histories and reclaim the narrative through the voices of families and individual descendants today.

NIHONMACHI ALLEY

This public-access exhibit invites you to explore the often unseen community treasures in Japantown: Chiyo’s Garden, Danny Woo Community Garden, and Kobe Terrace.
Located on the north side of Jackson Street between 6th and Maynard Avenue.
CANTON ALLEY
HISTORIC SPACE
On September 14, 2023, this Canton Alley Historic Storefront was subject to a hate crime attack. Community volunteers quickly boarded up the damaged windows and artists Sami and Shea created a mural in January 2024.
Located on the western exterior of Wing Luke Museum between King Street and Weller Street.

These two mural art installations are the culminating projects of YouthCan 2022 where students explored historic and current issues the Chinatown-International District.

The Wing Luke Museum’s exhibits and programs are built upon a community-developed, community-based model. Community members have come together in COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEES (CAC) through The Wing Luke Museum for over 20 years.
