IT HAPPENED HERE: CHRISTINA SHIMIZU & ARETHA BASU

Wednesday, August 31, 2022 | 12 - 12:30 PM PDT | HING HAY PARK | FREE

The best, local history, Talk-Story event is back! Join Five powerful leaders in our communities as they share personal stories of building movements, reporting events, and securing the community and the future of civil rights. Each speaker has had a connection to the Chinatown-International District-- some were mentored here- others embrace its history and steward its future.

Meet Christina and Aretha! They will be discussing the impact of those uprisings and where they see the efforts stand today.

Christina is currently the co-director of Puget Sound Sage, skilled in getting others to understand the intersections of social movements. She played a role in the organizing of the Black Lives Matter protests following the murder of Mr. George Floyd.
