Performance: Living Voices “Within the Silence”
Free Event
6:30-7:30 PM, August 7, 2025 in the Tateuchi Story Theatre
Within the Silence was developed in partnership with the Wing Luke Museum
Experience the impact of Japanese American incarceration during World War II—through the eyes of one young citizen navigating fear, loyalty, and identity in a time of injustice. In 1941, Emiko is an ordinary American teenager whose life is upended when her family is imprisoned following the signing of Executive Order 9066.
Through a powerful blend of live solo performance and archival film, Within the Silence brings history to life and invites reflection on civil rights, resilience, and belonging.
RSVP is optional, but encouraged for a faster check-in experience.
This event overlaps with our Free First Thursday evening hours from 5:00-8:00 PM, brought to you by 4Culture! Separate registration for First Thursday is not required. Please note that arrival before 5:00 PM will require standard admission rates.
