140th Commemoration of Seattle’s Chinese Expulsion
Saturday,February 7, 2026 | 10AM - 12PM
Hing Hay Park, Chinatown-International District
The event begins with a rally at Hing Hay Park, followed by a march to Pioneer Square and back to the park.
The rally will begin with guest speakers, including Eddie Lin, Seattle Councilmember for District 2. Then the march will proceed from the current Chinatown to Jackson Street, to 2nd Avenue (Seattle’s second Chinatown) and thence to the waterfront, location of Seattle’s original Chinatown in the 1800s.
Although ended in 1943, the Chinese Exclusion Act never truly ended, continuing in the form of redlining in banking, finance, law, real estate and even in death, with segregated cemeteries.
The rally and march is more meaningful than ever in light of today’s federal policies against immigrants, refugees, and citizens of color. The public is invited to join the Rally and March in support of due process and protections for all immigrants and refugees.
Sponsors of this year’s event are: United Hub, OCA Asian Pacific Advocates of Greater Seattle, Wing Luke Museum, Chinese American Citizens Alliance, Historic South Downtown, and Seattle Parks Department. Donors include Chong Wa Benevolent Association, Pacific Artists’ Alliance and others.
